Striker Bruno Mineiro climbed to the top of the scoring-charts as Portuguesa beat Sport Recife 5-1 on Thursday night to move into 10th place in the Brasileirão.

Bruno, 29, scored a superb hat-trick to worsen his former side Sport’s chances of avoiding relegation, with the Paulista side having fallen behind early on to Hugo’s header.

Falling behind sparked Portuguesa into action, though, and Bruno scored three unmatched goals to open-up a comfortable lead, before Moises and Rodriguinho added gloss to proceedings for the hosts.

The Portuguesa forward now has 14 league goals to his name this season, moving above Fred in the race to be crowned top-scorer in the Brasileirão.

Meanwhile, Coritiba ran-out 1-0 winners against Ponte Preta to give themselves five-points breathing space from the relegation zone, thanks to a diving-header from striker Deivid.

In Rio de Janeiro, Flamengo played out a 0-0 draw with Bahia to see both sides firmly rooted in the bottom-half.
