Former Chelsea and Juventus striker Gianluca Vialli was left impressed with what he saw from Shakhtar Donetsk in their 1-1 draw with Juventus in Turin last night.

Shakhtar, who started the game with Brazilians Willian, Luiz Adriano, Fernandinho and Alex Teixeira all in their starting line-up, took the lead through Teixeira in the 23rd minute, only to be pegged back 2 minutes later when Leonardo Bonucci equalised for the Old Lady.

However, Vialli like what he saw of Mircea Lucescu’s team. He told Sky Sport Italia“They played well and they deserved to win.

“No away side had previously created so many chances against Juve at the Juventus Stadium. Shakhtar Donetsk had the better of the possession and they were well positioned out there by their Coach. They should also have been awarded a penalty in the first half.”

The Skakhtar manager Lucescu was also full of praise for his Brazilian quartet.

“Willian is already a well-known player,” said Lucescu after Tuesday’s game. “He is a great talent, but other players such as Alex Teixeira were also outstanding … the whole team played well.

“This team has grown together, I have 23 and 24-year-olds who have been playing in the same squad since they were 18.

“I built this team and we are not afraid to play anywhere.”
