Montpellier defender Hilton has tipped former team-mate Olivier Giroud to be a success at Arsenal, ahead of the two sides" clash in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Hilton, 35, played a major role alongside Giroud in Montpellier"s shock title win of last season and believes his former colleague will be given a good reception by the club"s supporters at the Stade de la Mosson.

The Brazilian also sees little reason to doubt that Giroud, who was Ligue 1"s top-scorer last campaign, will score goals in the Premier League.

“I think that Olivier will be welcomed back by the fans," Hilton told Sambafoot. “He made his name with this club and he is now a part of its history.

“It"s always difficult to arrive in a new league and start scoring goals straight away. However, I have no doubt he will score many goals in the Premier League."

Montpellier have not enjoyed a good start to their title defence this season, but the veteran centre-back believes that the game against Arsenal can act as a catalyst for the club to get back on track.

“I am feeling really good and we are confident ahead of the first game tomorrow," he added.

“It will be difficult because Arsenal are the favourites in our group. However, it will depend on us and it"s an opportunity to get a good start in the Champions League.

“We have had a very poor start [to the season], but this game will only help us in the league since we will test ourselves against one of Europe"s great clubs."
