Mano Menezes: “We were the better team. We had control of the match, but lacked the finishing touch. We were too obvious. We got the ball to players out wide, but they were too far away from Pato and the play could not flow. That is something we have to work on.”

Neymar: “This was a good game and our team did very well. We have to do more work on our finishing. We want to win; we always do. The goal did not come, but we will work hard in training to ensure that it does come in the next game.”

Thiago Silva: “We are sorry, because if we had scored in the first-half, the game would have been different. It has hard to play the game in the middle of the pitch against such a narrow team. We should have played the ball wide and found more space.”

Lucas Leiva: “We controlled the match for the most part, and we did not let them create many chances. We had the ball cleared off the line and Pato hit the bar. In the second-half, we committed more mistakes. Now we have to keep on working in the upcoming matches to maintain possession and create more chances.”

Andre Santos: “The team created a lot of chances. It was a shame that we were not able to score and win the match. The pitch was bad and it hurt us a little bit, but we can’t use that as an excuse. We must improve our finishing.”

Alexandre Pato: “The game did not go as we expected. Now we have to forget about it and move on.”

Brazil’s next game is against Paraguay on July 9 in Cordoba.
