Sāo Paulo striker Alexandre Pato believes his side are still in with a chance of winning the league title despite their current position of 8th, eight points behind leaders Atlético Mineiro with 17 games played.

Pato told media gathered at a club press conference: "We’re in a process of changes, but yes we will fight for the title. Against Corinthians we saw only one team attacking for the 90 minutes of the game. We are improving and following the scheme that [manager] Osorio wants. If we listen to him, I am certain that we’ll fight for titles."

And the former AC Milan striker, who is currently equal second in the Brasileirāo scoring charts, also hopes to be the league’s top goalscorer, bypassing first-placed Ricardo Oliveira of Santos.

"I want to score goals," he said. "I want to be top scorer at the end of the year. I could be level or ahead of [Oliveira], but I’m enjoying a good period anyway. But I would swap all my goals for a title win this year."
