Aston Villa are enjoying a fantastic start to the 2023-24 season. The Birmingham-based outfit is fourth in the Premier League standings, only two points shy of leaders Arsenal. Brazilian midfielder Douglas Luiz has been pivotal for their latest results, which is why Unai Emery suggested he"s not going anywhere anytime soon.

“Douglas is playing very good," Emery said, via the Standard. “His commitment [is] amazing. I want to keep him and he is happy with us."

Douglas Luiz, in great form

The 25-year-old has reportedly drawn interest from several English giants thanks to his great performances at Villa Park. Luiz has started in every league game for the Villans this season, recording five goals and two assists.

Arsenal are understood to have pursued the midfielder last year, making three-deadline day bids to try and acquire the Brazil international. But Aston Villa rejected even a £25 million offer, tying him down to a contract extension through 2026.
