Despite the rumors, Barcelona coach Xavi Hernández made it clear that signing Vitor Roque is not a priority for the club. As the Blaugrana look to bolster their squad ahead of next season, the top striker position is one of the positions that needs attention.

Not because they lack a reliable player up front, since Robert Lewandowski has been a great addition. The problem is they don’t seem to have many alternatives to the Pole superstar. However, it looks like Xavi doesn’t see it that way.

Xavi says Barça don’t need another forward

The Spaniard has made it clear that signing a new No. 9 is not a priority for him. He pointed out that the team already have several attacking options, such as Ansu Fati and Ferran Torres, who can play up front. Instead, Xavi emphasized the urgent need to strengthen the defensive midfield position, since Sergio Busquets is leaving a huge vacany at the club.

The manager also mentioned the possibility of landing Yannick Carrasco from Atlético de Madrid. The Belgian is a versatile player, who can play on the flanks, but he doesn’t exactly fit the profile of a natural striker.
