The clock marked 21 minutes of the second half when Roberto Firmino entered the field in the match between Bournemouth and Liverpool last Saturday, 11. The number 9 reached the mark of 250 Premier League games. The Reds were defeated by the home team 1-0, with a goal by Philip Billing.

His first Premier League match took place on August 8, 2015, when Liverpool beat Stoke City 1-0. The opening goal in the competition took a little longer: a 4-1 thrashing against City (on 21 November). Since then, he has scored 79 goals and 55 assists, in addition to being champion in the 2019/20 season.

Firmino’s continuity in the Premier League is threatened

The Brazilian striker has already expressed his desire not to renew his contract with Liverpool, which is only valid until June this year. Therefore, the permanence in English football depends on proposals from other clubs. For now, the player has not signaled the next destination.

Currently, Firmino is a reserve in Jürgen Klopp’s team, as the newly signed Cody Gakpo has taken over as the most centralized man in the offensive trio. Even the arrival of new players is a justification used by the canary athlete to find a new home.

The defeat at Vitality Stadium left Liverpool far from the G-4, with 42 points, six less than Tottenham (the current fourth place). At the Santiago Bernabéu, Firmino and company return to the pitch next Wednesday, the 15th, against Real Madrid, in the second leg of the round of 16 of the Champions League.
