Brazilian striker Neymar, from PSG and the Brazilian national team, was elected for the 6th time the best Brazilian player playing abroad by winning the 2022 Samba Gold Trophy. The man from São Paulo celebrated the honor on his social networks with a post kissing the Samba Gold ball.

The star won the award with 40.46% of the votes, this being the second highest percentage among winners in the entire history of Samba Gold – 1st place also belongs to the PSG star, who won in 2021 with 42.77% of the votes.

In 2022, Neymar overcame competition from names like Vinicius Junior (Real Madrid) and Richarlison (Tottenham), who were among the favorites, along with Ney. However, in the popular vote, Neymar led with 40.46%, while the 2nd most voted ended up being Lucas Paquetá (West Ham) with 14.55% of the votes. Bruno Guimarães (Newcastle) closed the podium with 13.31% of the votes.
