On the afternoon of this Monday (27th), starting at 5 pm (Brasília time), the FIFA The Best ceremony took place. The award’s highlight is knowing which male soccer player will be elected the best in the world with three athletes of the highest level and different from each other competing.

Lionel Messi (PSG and Argentina national team) was the big favorite for winning the 2022 World Cup and secured the trophy. The finalist of the World Cup against the Argentines were the French, commanded by the top scorer of the tournament, Kylian Mbappé (PSG and French National Team).

The trio was rounded off by fellow Frenchman Karim Benzema, voted best in the world by France Football after winning the UEFA Champions League with Real Madrid. See all FIFA The Best 2023 winners.

FIFA Fan Award 2022: Argentine fans

Fair Play Award: Luka Lochoshvili

Wolfsberger defender Luka Lochoshvili was hailed as a hero after his quick thinking helped save the life of Austria Wien star Georg Teigl during an Austrian Bundesliga clash.

Lochoshvili, 23, saw action after Teigl, 31, fell to the ground unconscious following a collision with Nikolas Veratschnig’s knee during the closing stages of the Division 1 match.

Sensing the gravity of the situation, Lochoshvili, along with teammate Christopher Wernitznig, reacted immediately to prevent Teigl from swallowing his tongue.

Incredible footage from Sky Sports Austria shows the pair helping Teigl as other players wave for medical staff to come onto the field.
