Internacional won 2-1 against Chapecoense in the sixth round of the Brazilian Championship on Thursday night at Arena Condá, setting two records in the process.

The victory ended the streak, with Caio Vidal and Yuri Alberto scoring for the visitors, and Derlan scoring for Santa Catarina.

Inter showed vigor from the first minute after the whistle, scoring in the first six minutes of the half through Caio Vidal, who was assisted by Mauricio. Following the goal, the gauchos took command of the game.

A few minutes later, Felipe Santana came close to tying the game, but his effort was far too high. In the 35th minute, the visitors made it 2-0 by failing to equalize. The ball was sent to Patrick by Edenilson, who dribbled past Matheus Ribeiro and assisted Yuri Alberto to double Colorado’s lead.

Jair Ventura replaced Ronei Gebing, a defensive midfielder, with Bruno Silva, a forward, at halftime, like he did in the 1-1 tie with Atlético-MG, boosting Chape’s offensive prowess. In the 56th minute, Derlan won a high ball and scored for Verdao do Oeste after a cross from Ravanelli, giving the hosts a goal back.

Inter came close to restoring their two-goal lead on several occasions, but the crossbar got in the way.

Bruno Silva came close to tying the game in the 73rd minute. The forward took an unguarded shot after a rebound, but he missed the mark by a whisker. Joao Paulo made another save for Chape minutes later, this time stopping a Yuriu effort.

Bruno Silva was sent off late in the game for a rash tackle on a Chape player, receiving a straight red card. An incident between players on the side-line developed throughout the process, culminating in Danilo Fernandes and Caio Vidal earning harsh red cards.

On Sunday, Chapecoense plays Athletico-PR in Curitiba. Inter will also play away from home, this time in Belo Horizonte against América-MG at Arena Independência.
