In 2017, the trio famous for winning titles and playing beautiful football, MSN, was disbanded: Messi, Suárez and Neymar formed a trio that left opponents worried, with the Champions League title, in 2015, as one of the main achievements.
Now playing in Brazilian football, Suárez gave an interview to “Placar”, and revealed that he tried to prevent the departure of the Brazilian star from Catalonia to PSG and that he had the help of the Argentine.
“It hurt a lot for us, as Neymar’s friends and teammates, because in pre-season, in the United States, when we sat down to talk about it, he would tell us: ‘no, no’. And I didn’t like to talk about it very much, but there came a time when it was already a big ball, so we went to talk to Neymar and said: ‘Ney, if you want to win everything, stay here with us’. He would listen to us and say ‘yes, yes, I want to stay’. And then there’s all the surroundings that are sometimes difficult to control. We said: ‘Neymar, England is better. [Manchester] City, that football will be better there. But in France?’, revealed the Uruguayan.
Ney best in the world?
During the interview, the Grêmio number 9 also spoke about the possibility that the player fought to be the best player in the world at the time. According to Suárez, he could have won the award had he stayed with the Blaugrana team instead of moving to PSG.
“It is compromising, but I take responsibility. If Neymar had stayed at Barcelona, he would have won a Ballon d’Or for sure. My view is that if he had stayed, he would have won”, said the striker.
