Guimaraes has become a key player for Newcastle since arriving in January 2022 from Olympique Lyonnais. In a year and a half, he has already played 63 matches and scored 10 goals, establishing himself as an indisputable starter under Eddie Howe. The latter was therefore determined to keep it for the long term.

However, this starting amount of 100 million euros worries supporters, given the sums spent recently on players like Declan Rice or Enzo Fernandez. They fear that Guimaraes could leave the club easily if there is a high offer.

Real Madrid already on the lookout?

Real Madrid notably inquired about him this summer to strengthen their midfield. With the upcoming departure of executives Luka Modric and Toni Kroos, the Spanish club is already looking for their successors. Despite his high value, Guimaraes could therefore be tempted to join a major European club if his clause was activated. A fear for Newcastle fans, delighted to count this talented midfielder among their ranks.
