But the Brazilian side have warned that they will only accept to play the friendly in January 2017, because the players would be vacationing in December 2016. Santos also want the match to be played at the club"s Vila Belmiro stadium. The Catalan club intends to come to Brazil soon, and Santos president Modesto Roma explained in an interview with Globo Esporte that his team cannot play in December. He said: “Santos can play in January, but no way in December, because it will be holidays. I think the Vila Belmiro is ideal."
The first friendly match between Santos and Barcelona was held in August 2013 and the Brazilians were thrashed 8-0 at Camp Nou. The Catalans understand that the second friendly match has to be played before the end of Neymar"s contract with the club [currently valid until 2018]. Thus, if the player renew his deal until 2022, for example, Barça have until 2022 to come to Brazil to play. But the intention of the current European champions is to arrive in Brazil soon.
