Guangzhou Evergrande forward Elkeson scored his sixth league goal in three matches to secure his side a valuable 1-1 away draw with Beijing Guoan on Friday night, with both sides currently unbeaten in the 2013 season.

The former Botafogo player has quickly settled into life in the Far East and, in turning home Zhang Linpeng’s cross from the right wing, firmly secured his status as the division’s top scorer.

In an enthralling encounter, Beijing had taken the lead late in the first-half thanks to a coolly taken finish from the left of the area by young midfielder Zhang Xizhe.

However, after the break, reigning champions Evergrande came back forcefully and almost levelled proceedings moments before the goal, as Elkeson headed inches wide from a Huang Bowen free-kick.

The match also marked the first appearance of former Gremio forward Andre Lima in a Beijing Guoan shirt, having recovered from injury. Dario Conca and Muriqui also appeared in the Evergrande side.
