The Seleção have now reached the final of the South American qualifying tournament, where they will face Argentina. With the top three teams progressing to the World Cup, Brazil have now guaranteed themselves a place in the finals.

Brazil convincingly won all of their group stage games, beating Paraguay (14-1), Peru (13-1), Chile (10-4) and Venezuela (7-0). That saw them top the group and qualify for the semi-finals, where they were again victorious, this time over Colombia.

They take on Argentina later today to decide who finishes the champion of the qualification tournament. If Brazil win, they will face Japan, Mexico and Ukraine in the group stage, while if they lose, they will play El Salvador, Oman and Portugal.

The World Cup takes place from September 1-11. Brazil are the most successful side in the tournament’s history, having won 13 out of the 15 editions, including the last four in a row.
