Brazilian starlet Robinho admits his dream is to play for Real Madrid, possibly thwarting Chelsea’s hopes of landing the Santos ace.

Chelsea were linked with the 20-year-old over the weekend, with Robinho’s agent claiming the big-spending Blues are the only club prepared to pay the asking price.

But Robinho’s preference seems to be to snub a switch to Stamford Bridge after revealing his ambition is to be part of the Galacticos at El Santiago Bernabeu.

Robinho, who is currently not playing due to the kidnapping of his mother, would relish the prospect of playing alongside compatriots Roberto Carlos and Ronaldo in Madrid.

“I was very happy (to hear Real wanted to sign me), of course,” Robinho told AS.

“It is the fruit of my good work on the pitch. I hope to continue playing well and that I can fulfil my aspiration of playing, and prevailing, in European football.

“For me, Real Madrid are the best team in the world. They have fantastic players, among them two friends of mine, Roberto Carlos and Ronaldo.

“It would be a great source of pride to play in that side in Madrid. It would be a true honour.

“It is the club for which any footballer dreams of playing for and, in that sense, I am no different to the rest.”

Robinho’s representatives have discussed a move to the Bernabeu with Real officials but the attacker prefers to stay out of the negotiations.

He added: “I have very little information about the negotiations with Real.

“My agent Wagner Ribeiro and my father are those who are fronting the negotiations with Madrid.

“I prefer to be calm and only worry about football.”
