Vinicius comes off the bench to inspire Real Madrid to win over Real Valladolid
The Brazilian has expressed his delight after guiding Los Blancos to their second successive victory of the new La Liga season.
It was not the most convincing of results for Real Madrid as they barely scraped past Real Valladolid on Wednesday with a 1-0 score-line.
Zinedine Zidane’s men had many ideas going forward, but remained largely unable to put them to fruition.
They had much more of the ball, took 15 shots in total, and made 576 passes – but had not much to show for those statistics.
Luka Jovic, Fede Valverde, Shon Weissman, among others, came very close to scoring but each time the opposition goalkeeper was determined to not let a shot past him.
It was not until five minutes after the hour-mark and the introduction of Vinicius Junior that the deadlock was broken.
Marco Asensio, who was part of a triple second-half substitution, also played some part in his side’s winning goal.
“The first half was more complicated, but Zidane changed the system in the second. He brought [Marco] Asensio and me on and we were able to change the game,” Vinicius told Movistar said after the match.
“It was a different game from Betis. [Valladolid] put a lot of people behind the ball, but the important thing is that we won both games.”
“We know that if we do not concede, we have many options in attack. The system depends on the players and each opponent.”
The win moves Real Madrid joint top of La Liga alongside Getafe, Villarreal and Valencia on seven points.
