Robinho returns to Santos on a five-year contract
The 36-year-old will sign a five-month contract – until the end of the Brazilian Championship.
“This has always been my home. My goal is to help on and off the field, and make Santos FC return to the highest place, which is where I should never have left. Wonderful feeling of being able to return to the club that designed me for football. This is where I grew up. I always dreamed of being a player and Santos FC made it all possible – said Robinho, in a statement on the club’s website.”
Robinho will have a basic salary of R $ 1,500.00 with a bonus of R $ 300 thousand after ten games
and an additional R $ 300 thousand after 15 games, the amount to be paid at the end of the contract. The Fish will have the option to renew with the attacker for another year and seven months.
Club and player reached a financial agreement this Saturday, but they still needed the approval of the Management Committee, the Fiscal Council and the Deliberative Council. Emergency meetings were held to release the settlement with the King of Pedals.
“Santos FC is going through a difficult financial time. So this is the time for those who can do something. I want to help the club that always gave me everything. Santos FC has already done a lot for me and this return is still little. I will play for a minimum wage, but the most important thing is to be here. I’m fine physically and mentally, obviously there’s still a little bit of rhythm to go, but that over time we evolve little by little – he added.”
