Three Brazilians were on the pitch as Everton and Liverpool locked horns in the Merseyside derby on Saturday.

Alisson Becker and Roberto Firmino were in the starting lineup for Liverpool while Richarlison led the Toffees upfront in the absence of Calvert-Lewin. It is important to note that all three players are in the running to win the Samba Gold award. However, the Everton man would end up victorious at the end of the day.

Prior to this game, Liverpool had been on their worst form in ages in the Premier League, losing their last three games in succession. After a Champions League win over Leipzig in midweek, there were hopes they could get back to winning ways with a derby win over Everton.

In similar fashion, Everton were also without a win in their last three games prior to the fixture and needed a win as well.

However, Richarlison got the Toffees to the perfect start after latching on to a pass from James Rodriguez to fire past Alisson just under three minutes.

Liverpool responded well and got back in the game but Pickford made a couple of saves to keep his side in the game.

It was further blow for the Reds as they went on to lose captain Jordan Henderson to injury as well. The result meant Liverpool had lost four home games in succession for the first time since 1923.
