Pedro brace secures comeback win for Flamengo over Goiás

The game ended 2-1 in a late fixture. The Emerald team got the lead early on through Vinicius but a brace from Pedro secured the comeback for Fla. 

In the first half, Pedro had the chance to equalize for Flamengo.

He was also responsible for the winning goal late in the second half, which was the last move of the game. 

Flamengo’s number 21 scored the two goals for the red-black victory, which was his eight goal in the last seven games for his team. He also leveled things up with Gabigol for the race to the golden boot, scoring his joint 16th goal of the season. 

VAR was once again influential as Goiás saw one of their goals ruled out at the end of the first half. Goalkeeper Tadeu made a wonderful save from Bruno Henrique’s header which was proposed to have crossed the finish line, but after the check, VAR overruled for hand ball and cancelled out the play. 

Goiás goalkeeper Tadeu with his great performance in the game was responsible for putting his side in the game for certain period of time. He made key moves from his save for his team in the first and second half before he was beaten twice by Pedro on two occasions. 

Flamengo are level on point with leaderAtlético-MG with the victory but the read black team sits in second place due to the number of victories won by each team. Goiás on the other hand remains in last place with only nine points so far. 

Fla faces Bragantino next Thursday at Maracanã, while Esmeraldino will face Bahia in Serrinha, next Friday.in their next fixtures.
