The result means Inter are now the current leaders of the Brazilian Championship. The cold score, however, does not show exactly what the game was. It was practically an attack against Colorado’s defense. They lost several chances to score a number of goals but they were eventually rewarded for their resilience and managed to secure victory with a goal from Guerrero, in the 11th minute of the second half, and another one from Edenílson in the latter stages of the game.

There were 24 attempts and almost 70% possession by Eduardo Coudet’s team.

They were quite unlucky to get a goal of their own. The game had its own fair share of controversy too. Peixe scored what was supposed to be an equalizer with Kaio Jorge, but the goal was canceled after it was deemed handball.

However, the VAR analyzed the move and saw the touch of the attacker’s hand. According to commentator Nadine Bastos, the goal was well canceled: “After contact with the goalkeeper, the ball hits and returns on Kaio Jorge’s arm. The goal has to be canceled even if he does not intend to play with the hand”.

Guerrero completed two years with Inter in style. In a game with many lost chances, it was the Peruvian who decided first with a goal from the head of authority, beating Lucas Veríssimo, and then with a heel assist to Edenílson, who defined the score. The center forward has now scored nine goals in 14 games this season.

The victory takes Inter to six points, the same number with Athletico and Atlético-MG – the club from Paraná takes advantage in the tiebreaker criteria. Santos continues with just one point after two matches.
