Fluminense have agreed to sell teenage forward Marcos Paulo to Atletico Madrid come the end of the current campaign.

Reliable reports have already reported an agreement between both sides have been made. Los Rojiblancos will sign the player and then allow him complete the rest of the current season with Fluminense.

The La Liga outfit have been negotiating with the player’s agent, Lucas Mineiro, for the past few weeks and reports claim the agent is now in Madrid to finally close the deal.

As per reports, Marcos Paulo is expected to sign a five year contract with Atletico that will see him stay at the club until the summer of 2026 at the very least.

Atletico actually planned to sign the Fluminense in January but both player and club were in agreement to see him stay put in Brazil until the end of the current campaign.

Marcos Paulo was free to talk with other clubs over a move but chose Atletico over a host of others as he is a big fan of the La Liga.

The youngster is thankful for the breakthrough Fluminense gave him in 2019 and wouldn’t want to affect the club’s plans midway through the season.

Fluminense were open to discuss with other clubs but it’s reported that the teenager specifically pushed for Diego Simeone’s side. Serie A duo of Inter Milan and Parma were also interested in the youngster.

Paulo has scored three goals for Fluminense this season. In total, he has featured 64 times for the club, scoring 11 times.
