Fluminense and Bragantino could only play out to a goalless draw in a game valid for the 23rd round of the Brazilian Championship. There was lots of intensity on the pitch but none of that could translate to goals on the evening from either side.

It was a high energy game but lacked a number of good clear-cut chances.

Both sides played to their best but none could get the better of each other. Overall, Bragantino were the more offensive side and came close to breaking the deadlock the most. Fluminense deployed a tactic that saw them sit back and rely on counterattacks the whole game. However, they did manage to create two clear-cut chances.

In defence of Fluminense, we can defend their poor outing to an extent. The club was recently hit with a covid-19 heartbreak and they missed a number of their key players in the game. They even had to resort to using some youngsters for this fixture. This was evident in their starting lineup which saw up to six players that are not usually regulars.

As has been the case all over the world in the past week, a tribute to late Argentine legend Diego Maradona took place in the game. In Maracanã, Nenê was given the honor to raise a shirt with the no 10 and ‘Maradona’ customized on it as a form of respect to the late legend.

With that result, Flu remains in eighth place with 36 points and missed a chance to enter the top-four spots of the Brasileirão. Braga are further below in 15th place with 27 points.
