Diego Costa finally terminated his contract with Atletico Madrid on Tuesday afternoon.
The Spanish struggled had struggled for fitness and consistency since his return to the club and it was expected that his exit was around the corner.
The arrival of Luis Suarez in the summer only did more to fuel Costa’s decision for sure.
After terminating his contract, next on the agenda for Costa is to perhaps find a new club in the January window.

Some reports have linked the 32-year-old with a move to Premier League side Wolves but there is nothing concrete to have emerged from those rumors.
In a post on his Instagram account, Costa explained the decision to terminate his contract and that it was the right time to take that step.
“Well then everyone… Atletico fans… today, it’s with sadness and happiness too, that I say goodbye to all the Atleti supporters, to all my people,”
he wrote on social media.
“I’m sad that I can no longer form part of this family, the day-to-day, but I’m happy for having been part of it, of this great club.”
“But I want to tell you that I feel happy for having made history and made my small name at this great club – something that I always wanted but never even imagined could happen.”
Costa continued on his exit: “I want to thank all the Atletico fans, but I think my time came and, just as much as it was for me as it was for the club, it was the best thing that could happen.”
“I think it’s the best time [to split] for both sides and the best thing to help this team and this club”
In his second stint at Atletico, Costa scored 19 goals and recorded 14 assists in 81 appearances across all competitions.
