Cruzeiro’s poor form on the pitch continues after 3-1 defeat to CSA
The CSA defeated the Series B flashlight in style. They hosted Cruzeiro this Saturday at Rei Pelé and won 3-1. Having his first game, Pedro Lucas scored alongside Cléberson and Alan Costa. Matheus Pereira pulled one back but it was not enough.
Cruzeiro began the game with so much intensity.
Airton combined with Régis and destroyed the CSA defense early on and even saw their effort hit the bar.
CSA opened the scoring with the very first chance they had. In the 11th minute, Diego Renan delivered a corner from the left and Cléberson showed up in the little territory to head it.
In the 29th minute, Alan Costa doubled his side’s lead with a chance that started out from a good team move. CSA dominated Cruzeiro from that moment and the first half ended 2-0 in their favour.
Cruzeiro returned better in the second half but it was just not to be their day.
Fox pressured and limited the lead at 21 minutes into the second period. Roberson found Matheus Pereira, inside the box. The full-back made his mark at the Rei Pelé Stadium making it 2-1. CSA went on and scored the third at 26 minutes into the half. Pedro Júnior crossed in from the left, and debutant Pedro Lucas headed in.
After two minutes, Pimpão fouled Matheus Pereira, got a subsequent yellow card and was sent off. The CSA nearly scored the fourth in a counterattack.
On Friday, Cruzeiro will host Avaí in Mineirão, for the 11th round of the Serie B. On Saturday, the CSA continues in Maceió and faces Juventude at Rei Pelé.
