The game between Unión Santa Fe and Bahia ended in a goalless draw on Tuesday night.

Both sides played out to a pretty quiet first half and the highlight was Unión player Mauro Luna dismissed for a bad foul on Elber in the closing period of the first 45 minutes.

In the second half, Unión came out as the better side despite their red card and even saw a goal ruled out late on.

Bahia can now look ahead in the competition with a spot confirmed in the quarterfinals.

In the first half, Unión started the game well in a bid to reduce their deficit from the first leg but a resolute Bahia side stood in their way. Bahia played more on counterattacks and were happy to contain all the possession.

The first chances for Bahia came late in the first half following good moves from Rossi and Ramon. Gilberto also saw his chance go wide has he tried to bend one into the right corner.

In the closing stages of the first half, Luna Diale was sent off for a hard foul on Elber.

Towards the close of the game, Bahia ended up losing players to injuries. Anderson Martins and Matheus had to be replaced by Juninho and Ramon in defence.

Despite playing with a man down, it was Unión that looked the deadlier to get a goal.

Unión continued to pressure and finally got their goal but it was eventually ruled out for offside and was cancelled. It saved Bahia from the tension of a penalty shootout.

Bahia will face the winner of Defensa y Justicia and Vasco clash for the quarter finals of the Copa Sudamericana.
