With that, Athletico gets the second spot, and Peñarol says goodbye to the tournament. The game was full of goals and turns to start in the early stages.

Peñarol opened the scoring with Fomiliano but Athletico leveled the scoring after 30 minutes with Lucho González

and then Christian making a great goal from outside the area to give them the lead.

The game was far from over. In the second half, Peñarol equalized again with Kagelmacher showing great desire to get a goal. Penarol turned the tie around when Britos climbed higher than everyone else and scored the winning goal, but without glory.

Athletico is ranked in second place in the group with 11 points, which means they could possibly face a stronger opponent ranked first and deciding at home.  Peñarol are unable to qualify and say goodbye to the Libertadores

The draw for the round of 16 will be held on Friday, starting at 12pm. The Libertadores takes a break for a month. The first leg of the round of 16 will be played between November 24th and 26th. The games will be back between 1 and 3 December. The quarterfinals will be in December. The semifinals and the final will be in January 2021.

Pending the return of the Libertadores, Athletico turns its attention to the Brazilian Championship where they are in the relegation zone. The game is against Grêmio on Sunday at Arena da Baixada.
