Arsenal completed the signing of Real Madrid midfielder Martin Odegaard on loan till the end of the season.

The Norwegian was announced on Wednesday and would be joining the Brazilian quartet of Gabriel, David Luiz, Martinelli and Willian at the club. The trio of David Luiz, Gabriel and Willian were recently nominated for the prestigious Samba de Ouro award which will see a winner announced in February.

Arsenal were in search of a creative name to their midfield especially after Mesut Ozil left for Fenerbahce.

Odegaard was deemed to suit that profile and the Gunners made their move from him.

On the path of the midfielder, he was struggling for game-time at Real Madrid and was in search of regular football.

“I like the club and I always liked the way that the club wants to play. Everything about the club and now how the manager wants to play, I think it"s a club that really suits me well. So, I think it"s a good match," Odegaard said in an interview with the club’s website.

“I spoke to [Mikel Arteta] before coming here, of course. That was very important for me and he seems like a top manager and I liked his ideas, the way he sees football and also the way he is."

With lack of creativity at Arsenal, Martin Odegaard is expected to bring something new to the Gunners midfield. His versatility will also come in handy as Arteta looks to shake things up for consistency.

It remains to be seen if Odegaard would impress in the Premier League but a six-month loan move for a player of his quality remains a decent move and a good-enough temporary fix for the Gunners.
