It was a disappointing night for the reigning Serie A champions Juventus, as they lost 3-0 at home to Fiorentina on Tuesday. Juan Cuadrado‘s red card and Alex Sandro‘s own goal were the highlight of the game as they fell to a domestic defeat for the first time this season.

Martin Caceres grabbed a goal against his former employers as Fiorentina inflicted the first home defeat and heaviest loss for Juve on home turf in over a year.

Dusan Vlahovic gave Juve an early setback with a goal just three minutes into the game. It got worse when Juan Cuadrado received his marching orders for a poor tackle in the 18th minute.

Playing with a man down and a goal down, Juve struggled to dominate as they usually do. Things got even worse in the second half when Alex Sandro conceded an own goal in the 76th minute to give Fiorentina a shock 2-0 lead. The game was put beyond doubt for Juve when Caceres scored five minutes later to make it 3-0.

Juventus had previously scored in their last 34 home games successively but saw their run come to an end. The partnership of Ronaldo and Morata upfront were not at their best on the evening.

Elsewhere, Juve had several penalty appeals but they were all dismissed by the referee as they suffered defeat and lost ground on Inter Milan and AC Milan in the Serie A title race.

Juventus will have the festive period to recharge their batteries before they host Udinese on January 3rd. Fiorentina welcome Bologna to Artemio Franchi Stadium that same day.
