Corinthians and Inter confirm Gustavo will join Jeonbuk Motors
Both sides announced the completion of the deal on Tuesday afternoon and added that the only thing remaining was for the 26-year-old to complete a medical.
The striker, on loan at Internacional, has been released from activities by the club in order to sort the final documents that would be needed to seal the deal. Gustavo would also have to subject himself to routine health checks due to the pandemic before he can be allowed into South Korea.
The total values of the negotiation are kept confidential, but they are close to US $ 3 million (R $ 16.32 million) in total.
Inter are expected to receive 15% of this amount established in the contract. This would amount to about US $ 450 thousand (R $ 2.4 million). Elsewhere, Corinthians own 30% of his rights and would pocket for themselves almost R $ 5 million.
Internacional acquired 15% of Gustavo’s right when they signed him on loan at the beginning of the year, with the deal expected to run until the year ends.
Asides Corinthians and Internacional, Criciúma own 35% rights of the player while Taboão da Serra own the remaining 20% of his total rights.
Internacional released a statement summarizing the transfer on Tuesday afternoon.
“Sport Club Internacional announces that the official proposal received by center forward Gustavo met the requirements of the Club and authorized Corinthians, holder of the athlete’s federative rights, to proceed in the negotiation to sell the player. Inter had 15% of the attacker’s economic rights and will be duly compensated. We inform that the athlete has already been released from activities to complete the transfer process, which needs to comply with sanitary protocols in the country of origin of the buying club.”
Gustavo has featured in just three games for Internacional in 2020, failing to find the back of the net. For Corinthians, he has also featured three times and equally failed to score as well.
