The 21-year-old Brazilian joined Benfica from Corinthians in a 20 million euros deal back in March.

Pedrinho signed with the Portuguese Champions with a big reputation on his name and as such, a 120 million euros release clause was attached to his contract. Being a Brazilian and an explosive winger on the flanks, it won’t be long before the big names in Europe start knocking on Benfica’s door for his services.

And despite moving to the Estádio Sport Lisboa e Benfica in a five-year-deal, his agent Will Dantas has made a controversial claim that Pedrinho will not remain in Portugal for more than 18 months.

In a video interview with “Canal do Nicola”, by popular ESPN Brazil commentator Jorge Nicola, Dantas made the statement regarding Pedrinho’s future.

“(Pedrinho) He will go a long way. I am sure he will play a lot and even more sure that he will not be in Portugal for a year and a half,” he said.

“The termination clause is 120 million euros [R$ 655 million] and will be paid soon,” Dallas added.

There could be future interest from Spain and Dantas added that Pedrinho has a desire to play for Real Madrid or Barcelona at one point in his career.

“Pedrinho aspires to reach Barcelona or Real Madrid, like everyone else. But now he has to build his history at Benfica and leave there for a great team as a protagonist, not as a bet,” he mentioned.

Those comments are already receiving some criticism from Benfica fans who believe it could all lead to unnecessary speculation and lack of focus from the player.

However, if any club is willing to meet his 120 million euros release clause, it could be one of the biggest transfers in world football and Benfica would barely be able to say no to that.

For now, Pedrinho remains a Benfica player and it would be interesting to see where the versatile Brazilian fits in under Bruno Lage’s lineup.
