Brazil boss Tite is making no promises that the Seleção will lift a 6th World Cup title in Russia next summer. The coach oversaw a qualifying campaign which saw the team comfortably top the CONMEBOL qualifying table.

However, the manager was wary about managing expectations of fans following the World Cup draw in Moscow on Friday, “I don’t know if Brazil will win the World Cup and I don’t promise that we will win,” he told Globoesporte.

The coach also said he is open minded about his squad selection for March friendlies against Russia in Moscow and Germany in Berlin, explaining that current form will very much inform his decisions.

“I will analyze the technical quality of the moment, the past experience and a future projection, but the moment is what will be most important.” Corinthians won the Brasileirão comfortably and Grêmio were Copa Libertadores champions in Brazil.

Tite admitted that players from both clubs will be on his radar, “High performance generates pressure on the coach. There is going to be competition and it’s good for us that it’s like this,” he concluded.
