Despite having a contract with Atlético Mineiro until the end of 2017, striker Robinho is already thinking about a new deal.
The contract of Robinho with Atletico-MG is not near its end, and the player will defend Galo"s shirt in 2017, year in which the bond runs out. Club president Daniel Nepomuceno has already admitted that it was a mistake to sign for just two seasons with the striker and that he wants to start talks about the renewal this season. Happy and completely adapted to the club and to Belo Horizonte, the striker joked during an interview with TV Bandeirantes, on the possibility of extending the bond with Galo. He was even questioned about the possibility of a salary reduction to continue at Galo after December 2017. Robinho said: “Let"s renew for another ten years, that"s fine [laughs]! Wage reduction? Can also be. We"ll talk, no problem, we"ll come to an agreement. Being good for both parties, for me and for Galo, let"s go! About my return to Santos, there is nothing. What they have is that they sought my lawyer and my father to make a deal of what they owed me."
Robinho"s performances for Atlético Mineiro have been spectacular. With the club, he has the best career goal average and is the top goal-scorer in Brazil this season. No other player has scored more than he did in 2016 – 25 goals, so far. If the relationship between Robinho and Atlético-MG goes exceptionally well, Dryworld, a Canadian company that supplies sports equipment for the club – and which was one of the club"s partners in signing the player – has not fulfilled its commitments with him. Despite the issue, Robinho ensures that the club"s board has filled the company"s failures and guaranteed full payment.
