Santos striker Gabigol is currently with the Brazilian national team in Rio de Janeiro for the Olympic Games, while negotiations for his sale to Europe are still going on.
Santos are on top of the Brasileirão table after 18 matches, and Gabigol expressed his happiness for the club’s position. However, the 19-year-old did not guarantee that he will stay at Santos after returning from Olympics, and leaves his future in the hands of agents. Inter Milan had sent a representative to Brazil to deal directly with agent Wagner Ribeiro and the player’s father. Italian champions Juventus have already made an official proposal of €20 million, while Inter Milan approached the player’s family and offered €25 million. Focused on the Olympics, Gabigol is in no hurry to solve the situation.
He said: “Everybody knows that I’m a Santista and Santos is the club of my heart. I’m happy with the position of Santos, but… Everything is being talked. Now my focus is on the Olympics. To be honest, I’m really out of the negotiations. I leave it to my parents and agents. Of course, to decide soon will be good, but no need to rush, the window is extensive.”
