Negotiations between Atlético Mineiro and Figueirense for the transfer of 20-year-old striker Clayton should have a clear definition on Monday.
Globo Esporte writes that, according to people connected to the board of directors, Atlético Mineiro president Daniel Nepomuceno will meet the representative of the Santa Catarina side, Wilfredo Billinger to try and seal the player’s signing. In addition to Atlético Mineiro, Clayton is also wanted by Corinthians and Palmeiras, but Daniel Nepomuceno expects to complet the deal and practically close the squad for the first half of the season. Eduardo Maluf, director of football at Atlético, refused to reveal more details when asked about the negotiations. Agent and owner of a part of Clayton’s economic rights, Jorge Machado went on to say that the decision is in the hands of striker. But the federative rights belong to Figueirense, and they haven’t yet decided which proposal to accept.
