Palmeiras have joined Atlético Mineiro and Corinthians in the race to sign Figueirense’s highly rated forward Clayton, who was the major highlight at Santa Catarina last year.
The confirmation came on Wednesday in an interview with the agent Jorge Machado, who talked to Portal da Band about the player’s situation. The businessman also confirmed that he met the president of Figueirense, Wilfredo Brillinger, on Tuesday night to discuss Clayton’s future. He said: “Palmeiras, Corinthians and Atlético Mineiro have made official proposals to Figueirense to have Clayton. I just returned from Florianópolis now and the proposals are in the hands of the president to decide what is best.”
According to UOL Esporte, Atlético Mineiro are offering €3.5 million for 50% of Clayton’s economic rights, and have already reached an agreement with the representatives of the striker. The report reckons Atlético are waiting for the approval of Figueirense superintendent, Cleber Giglio, and an outcome is expected within Friday.
