Palmeiras has announced that it has fired coach Oswaldo de Oliveira after the team won only one of its first six matches in the Brasileirão.
Tuesday’s announcement came two days after the club lost 2-1 at Figueirense to drop to 15th in the standings. He led the club to the final of the São Paulo state championship earlier this year, when it lost to Santos on penalties. Palmeiras president Paulo Nobre said the coaching change was made because he was not satisfied with the results achieved by Oliveira.
