Cruzeiro and Sao Paulo both dropped points on a weekend of red cards.

There were 9 red cards altogether this weekend in the Brasileirao with Internacional being the only club in the top four to win. The south coast team picked up a 3-1 win after Farbicio and Valdivia scored in the second half of a hard fought encounter.

Meanwhile Cruzeiro dropped their first points in seven matches as they were held at lowly Chapecoense. 19 year old Hugo Ragelli rescued a point 20 minutes from time with a nice header only seconds after coming on.

Sao Paulo faired no better as they threw away their lead at home to ten man Figueirense. Edson Silva struck 20 minutes before the end to put the home side one goal up but the visitors snatched a point after Mazola’s late goal.

Fred scored two penalties and picked up an assist as Fluminense beat Corinthians 5-2. Corinthians now look to be in danger of missing out on next season’s Copa Libertadores after Internacional moved above them into third place.

Elsewhere Bahia have given themselves hope of avoiding relegation after winning 1-0 against Geromel and Coritiba made sure of survival by winning 2-1 away at Atletico-MG.
