Rafael Alcântara’s future remains uncertain after his father told La Xarxa that his son strives to play for Barcelona in the future despite the 21-year-old being linked with a permanent move to Celta Vigo.

Alcântara, who is more commonly known as Rafinha, joined Celta on loan at the start of the season and has impressed enough for his loan club to register an interest in keeping his services in the long term.

But Rafinha’s father Mazinho has failed to clarify his son’s future by admitting he isn’t sure if he’ll return to Barcelona or be loaned out again.

Sky Sports reported Marzinho’s comments, he said: “(Rafinha) is a Barcelona player.

“But we don’t know what will happen in the future, if he will return or be loaned again.

“Rafinha is working hard to play for Barcelona in the future.”

Although Rafinha’s father stated his son is looking to play for Barcelona in the future, it isn’t known what Barça’s plans are for him, despite signing a new contract in the summer.

Presently however, Mazinho’s son is enjoying his time at Celta, that is according to his father anyway.

“Rafinha is very happy at Celta and has been earning the manager’s trust,” added Mazinho’s.

“We are enjoying only thinking about the present and enjoying it every day.”
