Fluminense have confirmed Argentinian midfielder Dario Conca will return to the club.

The 30 year-old leaves Chinese side Guangzhou Evergrande in January.

His time in Asia has been very successful. He’s won the Super League in each of his three seasons at Guangzhou. There was also FA Cup and Super Cup victorious in 2012, while last month’s AFC Champions League win – the first in Guangzhou’s history – against FC Seoul, was the perfect sign-off.

Conca spent almost four seasons at Fluminense before signing with Guangzhou in July 2011. The deal gave him a reported annual salary of $12.5 million.

After three years away, Conca is happy to return.

“I would like to thank the Fluminense fans for all the affection they have shown me over the years,” he said to Fluminense’s official website.

“I am very happy to return to Fluminense and I’m looking forward to playing once again next year.”

Conca won the 2010 Brasileirão with Fluminense during his last spell at the club.

It is not yet certain, however, that he will be joining them in Brazil’s top flight. Flu are just one point clear of the relegation zone, with three rounds to play.

Back to back wins against Náutico and São Paulo have moved them up to 14th, but the margin remains minimal. They face mid-table Santos at the Estádio Vila Belmiro next on Sunday.
