Corinthians defender Paulo André praises teammate Paulinho
Corinthians defender Paulo André has praised his teammate Paulinho, describing the midfielder as ‘critical’ to their success.
André, 29, fresh from scoring the Timão’s second in their 2-1 victory over Santos in the first leg of the Paulistão final on Sunday, could not speak highly enough of Paulinho ahead of facing Boca Juniors on Wednesday.
He said: “Paulinho is critical, our key man. He is the man who surprises in attack and helps Ralf in the marking.
“He had a good game against Santos. When he plays well, he makes the team play well.”
Corinthians are trailing the Argentine giants 1-0 ahead of the second leg of their round of 16 Copa Libertadores tie at Pacaembu, but André believes they are ready for the battle ahead.
“We are very focused. Our team was assembled to go far in the Libertadores. After Santos we thought of Wednesday, because we will not give up either.
“The margin of error in these games is small and therefore we are always geared for the next step.”
