A new survey carried out by Pluri Consultoria from November 2012 until February 2013 found that Flamengo are still the country’s most popular club.

The survey gathered 21,049 respondents from 146 municipalities and all Brazilian states. There is a margin of error of 0.68%.

According to the survey, 16.8% of the Brazilians support Flamengo, but Corinthians are closer now, as 14.6% of the population chose the current club world champions.

São Paulo are the third most popular club with 8.1% of the Brazilian fanbase, while Vasco surpassed Palmeiras and are now in fourth place, supported by 5% of the Brazilians, compared to 4.9% that prefer Palmeiras.

Santos are in 7th place as they are supported by 3.4% of the Brazilians, that position places them just below Cruzeiro and above Grêmio, Atlético Mineiro, Internacional, Fluminense and Botafogo.

Sport Recife are the most supported club out of those not deemed big, while 20.8% of the Brazilians do not support any club.

Paysandu are the most popular club in the North of the country, with 0.6% of the fanbase while Goiás lead in the Central-West, as the survey shows 0.4% oft he Brazilians support them.
