The Venezuelan team is seen as the weakest in South America, being the only member of the CONMEBOL federation never to qualify for a World Cup and only progressing past the first round of the Copa America once in its history.

However, Miku says that Venezuela can put up a strong fight in the tournament and want to be competitive. “We are not here just to play for fun," he said. “We have come here to compete and win points.

“We have shown we can beat Brazil. We won in Boston [in a friendly in 2008] and we drew with them in the 2010 World Cup qualifiers. These results have shown that we can play at the same level as Brazil," added the Getafe forward.

Brazil and Venezuela go head-to-head tonight, with kick-off scheduled for 8pm UK time. Don"t forget to visit Sambafoot for live minute-by-minute updates of the game.
