Coach Tite had already made it clear, earlier this year, that he would not renew with the Brazilian team after the end of the Qatar World Cup, regardless of the result achieved. Since then, rumors began to surface about his possible next career move.

The coach, in a recent interview with the English newspaper “The Guardian”, confirmed that he has already been contacted by important European football clubs, from three different countries, made it clear whether or not he intends to take over Brazilian clubs soon and if he will take a period sabbatical after the world cup.

Tite’s next career steps

In an interview with the newspaper “The Guardian”, published on June 19, Tite revealed that he has been sought after in recent years by important clubs in European football. The coach says he has received contacts from Real Madrid, Spain, PSG, France and Sporting, Portugal. However, he rejected the advances.

“Just before the last World Cup they (Real Madrid and Sporting) wanted to talk and I said ‘no, I won’t talk’. (…) there was another club that wanted to talk to me and I also said no to PSG (after Unai Emery left in 2018). They wanted to talk to me and I said no. I don’t want to and I won’t. I don’t want to open up that possibility of something else. I want to focus on my work. Then it’s another story”, said the coach.

Return to coaching Brazilian clubs?

Tite confirmed that he intends to take a sabbatical, without working, after the end of the World Cup. But then, for sure, he intends to train a team outside Brazil. He previously rejected these good moves because he believes that if he wins the Cup, the market will be even more “open” to him.

“If you win the World Cup, you will have an open market. You can choose. I’m not going to lie: my idea is definitely not to work in Brazil. I want to spend a year with my family, take a gap year, study, not having any responsibility, because the responsibility is too big. If something comes from outside, it will happen. Now I have the responsibility and the joy of being the coach of the national team. I’m not even going to talk to anyone.”

What would Tite be like working abroad?

Of the clubs that have looked for Tite in the past, only PSG have an unstable coach in charge and who could, in the near future, look again for the commander of the Brazilian team. That’s because, according to the main French newspapers, the Argentine coach Mauricio Pochettino is on a “tightrope” and could be fired soon.

Real Madrid and Sporting are not looking for a new coach, at least for now. That’s because the Spanish club have just been champions of the UEFA Champions League and Italian Carlo Ancelotti does not see himself threatened in the position. The Portuguese Rúben Amorim, from Sporting, took the club out of the 20-year drought without winning the national league, in 2021, and has plenty of prestige.

Tite’s experiences abroad

Tite has had two experiences working abroad in his successful career so far. Both were in the United Arab Emirates, where he coached Al Ain in 2007 and Al Wahda in 2010.

In none of these stints, he won titles, but today he presents himself as a coach much more prepared for these types of challenges, after having been doing good work in the Brazilian team.

So, do you believe that Tite would do a good job in Europe? PSG would be, today, the most “palpable” destination for the coach, who is in no hurry to define his future. Keep an eye on the main news related to the Brazilian team here at Sambafoot.
