About the Cup and the Brazilian team

The World Cup has been held by the International Football Federation (FIFA) since 1930. It has been conducted every four years since then, with the exception of 1938-1950, when it was not held due to World War II. It is often referred to be the world’s most important football competition.

The 2022 World Cup will be held for the first time in the Middle East, namely in Qatar, between November and December. The tournament will increase to 48 teams in 2026, when North American countries (the United States, Canada, and Mexico) will jointly host the event.

The Brazilian team are currently leading the South American Cup Qualifiers and has mathematically qualified for the 2022 tournament.

The remaining thirteen teams have already qualified for the tournament: Qatar, Germany, Denmark, France, Belgium, Croatia, Spain, Serbia, England, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Iran, and Argentina. Eighteen spots must be filled in order for all thirty-two confirmed participants to compete in the Cup.
