Bruno Ribeiro - Blackburn

I am a regular at Blackburn Rovers home games, and they've been struggling with injuries at the back lately, which made me wonder why Ribeiro hasn't been given a chance.

Anyone know anything about him?

Bruno Ribeiro played two seasons with Gremio Barueri (2009 when in Barueri and 2010 in Presidente Prudente). In both years, we wasn't a starter. At the end of 2009, he had a serious injury (hamstring or knee, I think?) and never recovered until the middle of the next year. Nevertheless, I never thought he would ever be the first choice right back at Gremio Barueri. But I think his versatility (can play both sides) was valued especially when financial challenges kept the roster size small. I also suspect he's at Blackburn because he is inexpensive cover. The fact that he, apparently, has an EU passport makes the work permit issues fall away.

Thanks for that. Though they don't even seem to want to use him as cover yet. They're playing a 17 year old in Henley, and Jason Lowe - midfielder out of position - as full backs at the moment.

As you say, the fact that even with their experienced full-backs injured or out of form, he still hasn't been considered doesn't say much for their opinion of him. Similar to Bruno Perone at QPR.

He's started to get games now they're in the Championship, but haven't seen him yet. Hopefully one will be on TV soon.
