@jim hell yeah!managing brazil is not that difficult of a job,the only thing you i think you need to know is how to deal with the media and former players would like certain players on the team even though the team is winning. apart from that what is so difficult,there is so much talent,i mean brazil is loaded with so much talent in every position that if one player gets injured he weren't be missed,and they all star players on their club teams and they all play in difficult leagues in europe so they know what pressure is,so what is so difficult.the problem is mano is trying to much to change what dunga had that he is blinded by the pressure and the media to play the kind of football barca plays thats why as soon as he took the job he immediately selected a lot of players who were 18,19,20 into the team,but he soon realize that the majority of them weren't ready so he started to incorporate older players and that's what pressure does.now if i was the brazil manager i would select the best player in every position,i don't care if he plays in holland,japan,croatia,turkey,russia, it doesn't matter my job as a national team coach is to look at different leagues around the world and to look at the brazilians playing in them and to select the best players in every single position and get them motivated playing for brazil,and i say all leagues around the world because the best players doesn't always play in the best leagues.for example douglas who plays for fc twenty in holland is the best defender in holland and one of the best around europe and thats why holland wants him to play for them but he has never been selected to play for brazil but mano has selected breno,just because he plays for bayern munich n the german league and everyone knows douglas is a better defender than breno and he is just 23 or 24 my memory serves me right.look how long it took him to select hulk on the national team but he selects a player like andre who used to play for santos and even played him as a starter but he hardly starts hulk but when brazil is down and out he calls on him to save them and there is no way andre is a better striker than hulk,even leandro damiao shouldn't be selected over hulk but i believe mano is only watching the brazilian league and the italian,english and spanish league and players from the under 20 world cup to select players for the national team.and even with that he is pressured i believe to select players who player in the brazilian league,for example ganso was injured two months if i could remember before the copa america last year and never played a game for santos before the tournament but mano dismissed every other player from a starting role in the centre on the midfield behind the strikers by saying and i quote "ganso is my number 10" even though hernanes had a brilliant season with lazio as an attacking midfielder with lazio in a difficult and defensive league like italy.so what does that tell you he is close minded,i love ganso as a player but if he is injured and out of form i am not going to select and can you believe he left out hulk and instead selected fred of fluminense? i mean give me a break, i could do better than that and in the last friendly what did he do play hernanes as a winger and not just a winger but as a right winger.i don't think hernanes have ever played this position in his life not for sao paulo and definitely not for lazio,so taken all these things into consideration and things i haven't that into consideration like the selection of ronaldinho and the amount of time i have been watching football and learning the tactical side of the game and how to manage players from the great big phil scolari,i believe i could do a better job.

I agree with most of your points about team selection, but i think you make the job sound a lot easier than it actually is.

I think the volume of talent can make it more difficult, and we've seen numerous examples in the past where picking the best players each each position doesn't work - you need to assemble the best team.

@jim its hard to have a great team without selecting the best players in every position know that there isn't a lot of time to practice,remember the players only come together 6 or 7 times a year.so with this little amount of practice time and no real competitive games likes qualifiers. without great players in every single position the team is going to suffer because yhat means every player is going to have to be in the best form of his life and the team is going to need lots of luck.remember if one player is not that great of a player another player is going to have to help him out so that is going to put a lot of pressure on the team.where as if you had great players there weren't be much pressure onthe team because he weren't need that much help infact he would put pressure on the oppositon which in turn would benefit the team.its already difficult having great players playing as a team with so little practice time together so imagine playing with average players with very little practice time and having to represnt a great footballing nation like brazil know that as the coach you have the opportunity to select great players in every single position but you choose not to and failed,imagine the kind of pressure you would be put under and the amount of critism you would face.and another great thing of having great players is that if one great player is struggling another great player can help him out and make it much easier for him great players makes the game much easier for each other.

Mano started well when selceao beat usa 2-0.they played an amazing n eye catching football. then they beat both ukrain n iran with z same amazing display. then players like ganso n carlos eduardo got injured.although they even lost to both argentina n france they were superior on z matches.(specially against france until hernanes sent off,they were playing tic-tac football).then they beat scotland convincingly.they played then both rumania n holland,they played good football.then comes copa america.ganso n pato were included before they fit to play an official match.even fred was in. andre santos was there instead for marcelo.hulk was sub in both holland n rumania match but were sent home.hernanes was not even called. even though they played good fotball in z tournament they were not convincingly.they played better than their opponents.scoring goals were z real problems.creating goal opportunities were main problems.ganso wasn't what we know in santos. even pato.lucas moura,jadson were there but didn't get a real opportunity to show what they'r capable. so mano has his favorites.then comes z german match.mano tried to approach z game like dunga's style.ganso was in bench. 3 defensive midfielders.lucas leiva,ramires,fernandinho.no creative midfielder.z first time selceao outclassed since mano took over.and they lost.then he started to rely on dinho who's far from his best.his influence was very little as selceao only won mexico when he played.(i didn't count argentina since it's domestic match).they only managed a draw with costa rica,which is weak.i'm sure hernanes is a better choice than dinho but everytime he got selected he's in bench.he stars only against gabon n egypt,weak teams.against bosnia.well we all know what happened. sandro was injured n was in bench at spurs but he got selceted n started.even alex sandro who's in bench in porto.dinho who had a poor season with flamengo got selcted instead of kaka who's having a good season at madrid.dinho started. even hernanes but misplaced. hulk should have played there.dinho shouldn't b selcected. ganso or hernanes should have started there.fernando of porto is a great midfield defensive.he tackles,plays forward z match. but mano has his favorites.i'd love to c hernanes in fernandinho's position. he'd be a great help for ganso.but fernandiho played great match against bosnia until they switch position with elias.(when elias came in for sandro)and again he's mano's favorite.so without a real midfield holder they could have played fernandinho,hernanes,ganso,hulk,neymar n leandro damiao.more flowing n attacking football.so mano should stop picking his favorite players n pick z right players in their right position.carlos eduardo is a great playmaker too.i think he still is injured.mano should build a great midfield.those players who should pass,flow z ball and creat as many goal opportunities.

@moab,i think ralf of corinthians played as the holding midfielder against germany, and hernanes is not a real holding midfielder he can play in this position and do pretty good against average teams but against strong opposition his is going to struggle cause he doesn't play in this position for his club week in and week out.i believe he should play as an attacking central midfielder who comes back a lot to help his defends cause that is just part of his game.

@jim i have to simplify it cause when i look at football i look at it from a coaches point of view because i have been watching football for something like 20 years now so i don't get excited about a lot of things and i like to break down things especially after the 2002 world cup and brazil was struggling during qualifying and every one said that they could not win the tournament and they won it convincingly.even pele said that they should forget about the tournament and concentrate on the 2006 tournament but big phil made some changes improved the defends by playing 5 at the back with two overlapping wingers and three central defenders and one attacking midfielder in kleberson who was very versatile in that he was good enough to play as an attacking midfielder but he was also good at tackling and he also had a lot of speed and stermina to help his defense out and big phil made that change in the middle of the tournament and that really made me concentrate on the xs and os in football because juninho paulista was a big international star and vampeta of corinthians,both were dropped by big phil and replaced by kleberson,even sir alex said kleberson was the main reason why brazil won the world cup.

I agree with you all,but my problem is how often is Mano going to test new players?letting them play in a positions they never played before?when is he going to have his starting line up?where is Bruno Cortés?he did a great job on his first call.The Copa America was a disgrace but can he still make a difference?is the Olympics gonna save him?it seems he still have a long way to go.I think Brazil in general have a big problem concerning the coaches.Does brazil new a foreign coach to get back to their best form?New coaches,new faces of players everyday.lets just take a look at spain,Germany and Holland.lets hope CBF is gonna give the coaches their chance to handle the team and build a great squad everyone else wanna see.

@real sorry for my misstake according ralf.lucas leiva had a red card against paraguay n couldn
't play this match.even ralf had no internation expierence and strange that he's selected. so ralf,ramires fernandinho r three defensive midfielders.but hernanes when he started football in brazil in a higher division he used to play in that role.advanced midfield role,like fernandinho does today. then he progressed to playmaker role.if u c first he's sub for ramires.for example match against usa, he played in front of lucas leiva beyond ganso. then against france ramires got injured n hernanes played instead but in a different role(wide left).please read this article:)

@maob i know he started of as a holding midfielder in his younger days and for sao paulo but as his game has develop and he has grown in maturity he does not play that position any more,so i would i wouldn't play him in that position knowing brazil is loaded with brilliant holding midfielders like melo and the rest.do you remember julio baptista when was at sao paulo he was a midfielder who use to come from deep and score goals but when he came to europe he evolved into a striker and became good at it,thats what happened to hernanes his came has evolved and he has become more of an attacking midfielder.
