In the first half at Morumbi, Fernando Diniz’s men dominated play but didn’t cause Mirassol any problems. They also had a shot blocked from Daniel Alves following a corner in a good goal scoring position later in the first half.

The game gradually started becoming a one man show when Zé Roberto put away Juninho’s cross following counter attack to put Mirassol further in the lead.

Just after the half hour mark, São Paulo leveled up after a dominant display with goals coming from Pablo in the 36th minute and Vitor Bueno  barely one minute later.

After the break, São Paulo possessed more in search of the win, but didn’t find the space through Mirassol defence. Despite creating about 20 goal-scoring chances, they could not find the decisive goal they were desperately looking for.

Before the hour mark, they came so close to turning the game around in their favour, but Igor Gomes’ cross hit the post and Pablo had his rebound deflected away from goal.

Fernando Diniz’s team had 21 total shots at goal but failed to capitalize on it and take the lead. In the 80th minute, Mirassol put took the game and took the lead with the all important breakthrough goal coming from Daniel Borges.

With the 3-2 victory, Mirassol will now face Corinthians who secured a 2-0 victory over Red Bull Bragantino on Thursday as their semi-finals opponents.
