Considering the nature of this derby, the ball started with usual tension as always. It was a game of few opportunities and Gremio needed a slight deal of luck to claim all three points.

Asides the resumption of just football only, the game was also headlined by the presence of virtual fans.

With five screens and images of fans, Inter’s red took over the stands of the Centenário stadium. In the sound system, a DJ was responsible for playing cheerleading songs. And even boos and complaints about fouls were present. The virtual crowd booed the penalty marked by the referee, from Musto in Kannemann, in the first half. But Marcelo Lomba did well to save the penalty by Everton Cebolinha .

A free-kick by Jean Pyerre was aided by a deflection and served for a 1-0 victory for the Tricolor over the Colorado team. With the victory, the team led by Renato Portaluppi continues a good historic taboo about their rivals. It now means Gremio are unbeaten in eight games over Inter, with five wins and three draws.

The last victory for Internacional came back in May 2018. However, the result does not change the situation of both sides in the Championship as each one leads their respective groups with ease. Gremio lead group B with 12 points while Internacional also lead their group with seven points despite suffering their second loss of the season.

In the next round, Inter will face Desportivo away from home. The game will be on Saturday, at 19h, in Bento GonçalvesGremio will meet with Ypiranga-RS on Sunday at 11 am, in Caxias do Sul.
